  Galeria Fucares Madrid announces its fifth show of Spanish/American artist Maggie Cardelus (Virginia, USA, 1962) in which she continues her exploration of the family photographic album. In this show the artist has expanded the photographic album to include the universe itself, as it unfolds in the domestic.

On the 23rd March Massimo De Carlo opens Christian Holstad’s solo show You Will Find Me if You Want Me in the Garden unless It’s Pouring Down With Rain. The title of the exhibition comes from a verse of “The Garden”, 1996 song by the German band Einstürzende Neubauten, one of the most significant and important industrial rock groups of the ‘80’s.   

Drawing Serra

Throughout his career, Serra has made drawings as separate, immediate, and fundamental lines of investigation to his sculptures. They are explorations in their own right, integral to the overall concerns of his sculptural practice, and unique intuitive explorations within their own established criteria. Using black paintstick or oilstick, heated to a viscous and sometimes fluid state, he creates elemental forms through direction action on the paper and the accretion of medium. These drawings are self-referential: they do not imply surface and weight but rather they are surface and weight.

News, rumours, and protests centered on the imprisonment of artist Ai Wei Wei have been accumulating at an ever-faster rate. His wife has been questioned, his driver and accountant have disappeared, and other associates of the artist seem to be in jeopardy.

Benrimon Contemporary has announced “Three-Fold,” South Korean painter Changha Hwang’s first solo exhibition with the Chelsea gallery, which is on display until May 7, 2011.
“Hwang creates abstract paintings that deal with spatial and temporal notions of painting. The artist’s main concern is the relationship between the "Controlled" and the "Uncontrolled" in the process of composing color, line and shape in painting. Hwang is fascinated by the tension that is created by this relationship.

Priska C. Juschka Fine Art has been sued by one of her artists in Federal Court. According to CourtHouse News Service, Dana Melamed claims the 27th Street Chelsea gallery owes her more than $68,000 in consignment sales.
