I am primarily a landscape painter. My work is about my response to the colour, space, and light in the landscape. I aim to paint the power and the spirit of the landscape, not the view of it. I am inspired by the dominance of nature over man: found in the drama of my nearby mountain landscape or in the joy of seeing the rush of wild flowers in early summer or the spring light flooding through rejuvenated greens. I am influenced by many contemporary painters but my main inspiration comes from J.M.W Turner, the great English landscape painter of light.
