My work is compiled in order to put some effort in clarifying the
purpose of pardah. My work elaborates about its origin; it’s
comparison with the ways of its practice in different cultures and
religions and also a source of mutual understanding between
them. Since pardah has varied notions, one cannot have a single
conclusive statement. It is one of such topics which will always
remain under discussion. What my work is doing is making people
to think more about the complexities of this subject. I have
brought it to a realm of discussion so that a lot more can be
researched on its psychology. All over my effort is to bring forth
this topic as a food of thought for many.
My work is based on my perception of the positive and negative attitudes in the
lives of females, especially considering myself. It is not about their attractiveness
which is normally associated with female body but instead it is about them
searching for happiness midst all the negativity created in their lives by society.
There are so many things which need to be celebrated in a woman’s life; most of
all the growth and bonding between relationships, in which a woman plays an
important role. All these thoughts are presented through various symbols like
birds, ropes, leaves and mannequins.
I enjoy the process of painting and I used the process as meditation and for
Self-awareness. By using toys my work represents the behavior of our society.
Toys have the feel of innocence and I am trying to portray that feeling. In my
recent work I tried to paint the composition of old master’s works. The selection
of these paintings is based on the behavioral aspects of society, and I tried to
rearrange them by the replacement of one object in each painting, through which
I tried to show the treatment for innocence in our society.
My work is a pictorial representation of frequent situations, direction of thoughts
and mental states. Some of my artworks go with the notion of “less is more” and
another depicts the idea that how a lot of factors and elements cause to create
the different views, phases, ideas even a single step of our life. And this notion is
depicted by the painted white & black objects tangled in hair. Hair is painted as
the physical manifestations of thought. And when, objects are presented along,
these works as the connection.
My interest in human behavior, action and reaction towards others urge me
to paint the unexplained situations of the human mind. For, I want to derive the
attention of others towards the reality factor that what is apparently visible is not
the whole reality.
My work is a celebration of life, beauty and hope. I look at the spontaneity,
harmony and exuberance of life. The calm blue sky, the gardens and trees as a
symbol of strength. The images show struggle and conquest. I feel that we all hide
our true emotions to appear calm and serene in front of the world to go with the
flow of life. The images also show a process of emotional healing. The gold as a
new day taking over the dark nightmares of the past, the budding petals covering
the wounds of the fallen. The lotus flowers, the appearing forms show an
occurrence of a new light and herald the arrival of a new vision. It tells the story
of hope, revelation and resurrection. My work is a journey of hope and
expectations. I use symbols such as serene waters, the apparition of angelic
forms, lotus flowers, shining moon and the use of gold to depict the crack of
dawn. All these symbols reveal my ideas of a new hope or enlightenment. I try to
show hope as a revelation. The color blue establishes a dreamlike, surreal quality,
suggests notions of calmness and safety, and formally unifies the disparate
objects in each painting.
