Claire Fearon is a successful contemporary British painter whose widely acclaimed works in acrylic on canvas have sold to private collections in the UK and throughout the world. She has exhibited nationally and internationally and is well known for her use of vibrant and often brave colour choices in her patenting. Her current work explores issues of life and death and the macro and micro of life itself from the smallest cell to the great cosmos.
“When working I like to first paint my canvas a solid colour, usually black. Then I work intuitively choosing colours often at random, building up layer upon layer. Each painting goes through many different stages as I often get almost to completion then decide to just keep on painting changing the work totally. I instinctively know when it’s time to stop. I like to document the process many of my paintings go through, taking photographs people can see the works underneath the final painting. I work relatively fast, trying hard not to over think the marks I am making. This is something I find difficult as by nature I would rather control every move and angle. I find it quite challenging to just let go and see where the painting takes me rather than the other way round but I really enjoy the journey and am often shocked at the painting I see before me when done.”
